Activity: The first visit to Kg. Laut, Tumpat, Kelantan

The project started with a meeting session with the Rebana Kercing of Kg. Laut activist, En. Harun Bin Hassan, fondly called Pak Su Harun, to explain the teams’ intention to conduct the project entitled “Preservation of the Rebana Kercing of Kg. Laut, Kelantan” awarded by the U.S. Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) to preserve the dying art of Rebana Kercing. Pak Su Harun was glad upon receiving the good news and willing to give his full cooperation towards the completion of the performance art preservation project.

The session marked the first data collection process. Pak Su Harun recalled his experience since the earliest time of his involvement with Rebana Kercing towards the golden era of Rebana Kercing until its declination afterwards. He also shared information about the changes of the Rebana Kercing performing art now and then.
