Prof Dr. William Chapman from University of Hawai’i also visited the office of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Razli and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Prof. Dr. Arham at UMK Bachok Campus.
Our special guest, Prof Chapman visited Masjid Kampung Laut, Tumpat, Dewan Rebana Kercing and Kampung Kraftangan, Kota Bharu. The delegacy also have visited heritage buildings around Kota Bharu eg. Istana Jahar, Istana Batu, Muzium DiRaja – Muzium Negeri – Muzium Islam and Muzium Perang and other historic and handicraft places around Kota Bharu, Kelantan
Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) through Preservation of the Rebana Kercing of Kampung Laut, Kelantan project funded by U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), under the State Department, United States Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs has been received a visit from Professor Dr. William Ryan Chapman, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture from the University of Hawai’i Manoa from 11 – 14 July 2022.
Hence, special talk by our special guest will be conducted as follows:

As part of the effort, the team will be holding a special webinar session as a platform to discuss ideas on the preservation of art and culture, the roles of stakeholders and for knowledge and experiences sharing from invited panelists on rebana kercing and other traditional performing arts from Southeast Asian communities.
A team of researchers of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) is currently carrying out a project to preserve a dying performing art under the project of “Preservation of the Rebana Kercing of Kampung Laut, Kelantan”. This project is funded by the US Ambassadors fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
